Product Analytics / Session Replay Intern

Fully Remote Internship Product analytics

We are looking for a Product Analytics / Session Replay Intern who is curious about user behavior and enjoys figuring out what visitors actually do on our website. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for detail, is comfortable analyzing user sessions and website analytics and can turn observations into clear insights.

Selfhost.dev is a managed backend infrastructure platform where developers and teams can run their backend, databases and applications from one dashboard without managing servers themselves. We give developers fully managed database services, app hosting, cache services and more with transparent pay-as-you-go pricing.

You will spend most of your time studying user sessions on our marketing website: what people explore, what catches their attention, where they hesitate, what they click, where they drop off and how they move through the site. You will turn those observations into daily updates that help us understand visitors and improve the website.

What you'll do

  • Review user session recordings and website activity on a daily basis.
  • Analyze how users navigate and interact with the Selfhost.dev website.
  • Identify patterns in how users discover, explore, traverse and interact with website pages.
  • Observe which sections, CTAs and features attract the most attention.
  • Identify friction points, confusing interactions, unexpected behavior and drop-offs.
  • Track where visitors enter and exit the website.
  • Analyze clicks, scroll behavior, navigation patterns and other available website data.
  • Maintain proper documentation and share daily updates with interesting observations and supporting data.
  • Track how visitors interact with new pages and website changes.
  • Work closely with product, design and marketing to share your findings.

You'll be a fit if

  • You are naturally curious about why people behave the way they do.
  • You have a strong eye for detail and notice things others might overlook.
  • You enjoy exploring websites and understanding user journeys.
  • You like finding patterns and connecting observations to data.
  • You can clearly explain what you observed and why it might matter.
  • You are comfortable working independently and providing consistent daily updates.
  • You have a basic understanding of websites, UX or product analytics.
  • You are comfortable working with spreadsheets and organizing information.
  • You are willing to learn analytics and session replay tools.
  • You have good written communication and attention to detail.

Nice to have

  • Experience with tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, Mixpanel or similar analytics tools.
  • Basic understanding of funnels, conversion rates, bounce rates, drop-off rates and user journeys.
  • Familiarity with UX research or usability testing.
  • Understanding of website UX and conversion optimization.
  • Experience analyzing websites, SaaS products or digital products.
  • Basic knowledge of spreadsheets or data visualization.
  • Experience with a personal, academic, freelance or open-source project where you analyzed user behavior.

What you'll actually be doing

You will review website visitor sessions and analytics, then turn those observations into a simple daily update containing what you found, the supporting data, why it matters and what we could potentially improve.

  • How many visitors came to the website today?
  • Where did they come from?
  • What did they do today?
  • What unusual or interesting behavior did we notice?
  • Where are they getting stuck?
  • Which pages are getting the most attention?
  • Where are users converting and where are they getting confused?
